DIY Art Smock from a T-Shirt

Do you have drawer of old t-shirts? So do I. I also have two boys who are starting school one had an art smock on his supply list. He really didn’t like the plastic one I pulled out of the art bin in the basement. To be honest, I didn’t either. So I got to thinking, what could I use for a art smock that I won’t have to go out and buy? It’s just going to get paint and whatever else all over it. Natural bug repellents are a great alternative to using DEET. These plants and essential oils can ward of mosquitoes and other biting insects so you can enjoy your summer without all the toxins

Top 3 Natural Bug Repellents

As I was picking out my plants for my garden this spring I came across a few natural bug repellent plants. That got me thinking about making myself an all natural bug spray. I live in the state of Wisconsin in the summer our state bird changes from a robin to a mosquito. Just kidding, but really we have an onslaught of mosquitoes during the summer and fall. Our family uses a bunch of bug spray so that we can enjoy the outdoors during the warm months without becoming totally irritated by the little biting menaces.

I wanted to try to make my summer less full of toxins and chemicals while still enjoying the outside. I have three homemade, homegrown and sure fire ways to make your own natural bug repellents. As proof I am using one of the repellents as I work on my post. It’s August 7th and the sun is going down after a warm day. For anyone that lives in this part of the county you know that it’s the prime time for the  blood suckers to come out. Continue reading “Top 3 Natural Bug Repellents”

Both of my boys have grown this past winter, I needed to go through the D-Man’s old coats for Big-C to wear. I dug up this cute fleece coat and remembered that right around the time D-Man outgrew it the zipper got caught in a door jam. It came apart and I was unable to repair it. That was 2 years ago, now I know how to fix that broken slider.$1 Craft Supplies at Dollar Tree! Continue reading “How to Fix a Zipper Without Sewing”

DIY Organizing Containers made from upcycled and reused cat litter pails.

DIY Organizing Containers made from Upcycled Cat Litter Pails

It’s spring and we’ve been doing some Spring cleaning including the garage. I wanted some containers that would fit on our shelves and hold the objects that tend to clutter up spaces. The cat litter pails worked awesome! They were very simple to prep and label. Now our balls, sand toys and play tools have a place. I think I may be adding some to our collection…..there’s chalk, bubble toys and maybe even my gardening tools.
