It’s summer and that means outdoor fun, swim parties and cookouts. This recipe is perfect for summer. My mom started making this semi homemade salsa at least 10 years ago. It is always a crowd favorite and we are happy to give out the secret of it’s tastiness to our friends and family. Today I am sharing it with you!
The ingredients to make this easy, flavorful and satisfying salsa are found in your pantry. The recipe is so flexible you can dress it up or keep it simple. My nephew likes to eat it even without chips for dipping. I prefer it with chips but to each their own, it’s just plain good! We bring it to every event and even non-events. There are two jars of it currently in my fridge and I am sure at least one jar of it at my mom’s house.
I know that there is was a jar at my mom’s house yesterday, but my dad and I finished off about half of it!
The nice thing about this semi homemade salsa recipe is that you don’t get tired of it, because you can keep making it differently. It takes three main ingredients: salsa, black beans and corn. I use the medium or hot salsa found at Aldi in the 24 ounce jar. We’ve only tried it with a tomato based salsa, I don’t think it would taste as good with mango based salsa. You can add a variety of other ingredients, but that is your base. The homemade portion is what you add to those three canned items.

I like to add ingredients from my herb garden and some lime for freshness. My mom likes to add red onion and cilantro.
