This homemade anti aging face wash is a super simple solution for acne, wrinkles and even moisture. It’s fall and coming up on winter, where the skin can really take a beating from the dry air. Are people saying you’re looking older or surprised you still have acne at your age? People have been telling me those things. I decided to take control and make my own face wash.

Yes I Have Adult Acne with wrinkles and Here’s Why…

I turned 40 this year. That does not make me old it also does not make me young. My skin is 40 years old and it is tending to show it’s age. I also have 2 young boys who have added some stress to my life and it has shown up in my eyes, hair and face. They both have individual special needs, one has Down syndrome and the other has severe food allergies. This makes my own self care needs fall behind those of my children. This face wash helps my skin everyday without adding an extra step to my routine.

I have a long history of acne from puberty all through adulthood. I have tried many facial cleansers, ointments and lotions. Creating my own face wash has given me the best results. Now that it is supposedly fall going into winter (although it was 65 degrees today did someone forget the memo that it’s almost November?) I also need something to help the dryness that occurs.

My skin changes with the changing seasons and I needed something that would help. I have been using this new recipe for the last 2 months, it does not separate and it makes my skin feel soft, nourished and clean.

update since orginal post, I have used this face wash since August of 2016 and love how it continues to work for me!

Raw honey is antibacterial which makes it great for acne treatment and prevention. Honey is also full of antioxidants, which helps to slow down aging. It is moisturizing and gives your skin a terrific glow. Raw honey is also clarifying due to it’s ability to open up pores and make them easy to unclog.

Tea tree oil is a well known essential oil for treating acne. It is important not to overuse this oil a 5% solution is fine. If overused it can dry out your skin and trigger your body to produce more oils. Make sure to use sunscreen always especially with tea tree oil because it can make you more sensitive to ultraviolet rays.

Probiotic capsules can help with wrinkle prevention, strengthening the skin, moisturizing, sun damage and rosacea. We all have heard that probiotics are great for your gut, but research is showing that using them topically can also be promising.

Oils are great for moisturizing and protecting your skin from free radicals. This is a blend of jojoba, almond, olive, grapeseed, vitamin E, Sunflower and lavender oils that are cold pressed, unrefined and organic.

Peppermint castile soap is my favorite of the Dr Bronner’s line of soaps. The peppermint gives me a nice revitalizing wake up in the morning and somehow is also calming in the evening.

I was able to get my hands on some raw honey from my parents honey bees, thanks Mom! Most farmer’s markets have at least one stand that sells the real stuff. You can acquire raw honey from the grocery store.

There are large variety of oils you can use on your skin including argon, avocado, coconut, jojoba, lavender and olive. I like to look at how the oils are processed the words cold pressed, unrefined and organic are all good items to locate on your label. Any liquid Castile soap will work I just prefer the peppermint scent. Remember to keep it away from your eyes and you will be fine.
